Sedation Dentistry in East Village, NYC
When it comes time for your dental visit, put your anxiety and fear to rest.
An estimated 75% of adults avoid dental treatment due to anxiety or fear. This fear keeps many patients from getting the care they need for a healthier smile. No matter your reasons, we want to ensure that you are comfortable, relaxed, and pain-free. East Village Dental Arts offers sedation dentistry for a more relaxing experience while you’re getting your treatment.
Why get sedation dentistry?
Sedation helps to overcome the anxiety and fear you may experience surrounding your treatment. Depending on your treatment and the level of anxiety you have, there are a number of sedation options.
What are the types of sedation used?
Sedation dentistry allows patients to receive the periodontal or dental implant treatment you need, without the worry. We offer several sedation options, providing relief for mild to severe dental fear.
A local anesthetic numbs the treatment site including the gums, bone, and teeth. A local anesthetic may be combined with another sedation option for a pain-free experience.
Also known as laughing gas, Nitrous Oxide is an odorless gas that is inhaled through a mask placed over your nose. This method does not put you asleep and we can control the amount of sedation that you receive. Nitrous oxide leaves no after-effects and is ideal for minor anxiety.
Oral sedation is effective for moderate dental anxiety. A prescription sedative (pill) is taken orally an hour prior to your appointment. With this option, while you may be awake, you will feel more at ease while your dental work is being performed.
IV Conscious Sedation
IV sedation is often used for severe anxiety, multiple procedures or complex treatment. A sedative administered intravenously. Though you are technically awake, you have little-to-no memory of the visit.
